Who We Are

Home Security Ranked is an independent review site dedicated to helping homeowners, renters, and property managers find the best home security systems for their needs. We compare home security equipment and services against published specifications and owner reports and provide transparent, honest reviews that prioritize your safety and peace of mind over affiliate commissions.

Our mission is to cut through sales pitches and deliver practical security recommendations based on actual performance, ease of use, and real-world reliability.

How We Evaluate

Every security system reviewed on Home Security Ranked is evaluated using a consistent, criteria-based framework:

• Installation requirements: Systems are compared on published installation requirements, setup complexity, and owner reports of installation time across different home layouts.
• Sensor accuracy: Sensors are compared on published detection specifications and on owner reports from comparable layouts and conditions.
• App performance: Mobile apps are compared on documented alert and reliability features, published specifications, and owner reports of interface quality across network conditions.
• Customer support: Support is compared on published support hours, documented response expectations, and owner reports of helpfulness and technical knowledge.
• Monitoring center quality: Monitoring services are compared on published response and dispatch protocols, listed certifications, and owner reports where available.
• False alarm rates: False alarm rates are documented from published manufacturer data and owner reports to help you understand real-world reliability.
• Integration ecosystem: Third-party compatibility with smart home platforms, voice assistants, and automation systems is compared against published integration lists and vendor documentation.

Editorial Independence

Our affiliate relationships do not influence which systems we select or how we review them. We maintain independence through:

• Independent selection first: We select systems based on market demand and reader interest, not affiliate commission rates.
• Honest scoring: Security systems are ranked by actual performance, reliability, and value — not by payout amounts.
• No pay-for-placement: Companies cannot pay for higher rankings or featured placement in our reviews.
• Public methodology: Our evaluation process is documented and transparent so readers understand how we reach conclusions.
• Affiliate disclosure: We clearly mark which links are affiliate links and explain how we make money. See our full disclosure.

How We Make Money

This site is supported by affiliate commissions from home security providers. When you sign up for a system through our link, we earn a commission at no extra cost to you. This model allows us to maintain free, accessible reviews for everyone. However, affiliate relationships never influence which systems we select or how we rank them.
